What is a SEMS Screw?

A SEMS Screw is a generic term used to describe a screw pre-assembled with a free-spinning lock washer. It is a permanent assembly with the washer held in place by the major diameter of the screw thread being larger than the hole of the washer. The SEMS screw is simple, easy to use and available in many different styles making it well suited for many applications.

Double Washer Sem Screw

Screw and washer assemblies, or SEMS screws are generally covered by the specification ASME B18-13 1996.  Typically, double washers consist of a split lock washer and a flat washer. They are readily available in metric sizes. Special double washer sems can be made for application specific needs.

Flat Washer Options are generally divided into a washer series of Narrow, Regular, and Wide Sizes.  The size chart is below.
Lock Washer Options - While typically a split lockwasher; internal tooth lockwashers and external tooth lockwashers can also be assembled.
